Someone told him long ago, there’s a calm before the storm.
He knows that it’s been comin’ for some time.
When it’s over, so they say, it’ll rain a sunny day.
So he waited.
In the howling winds, he waited.
Surrounded by the sounds of boisterous thunder, he waited.
While getting smacked with cutting rain, he waited.
Under dark vicious clouds, he waited.
Yesterday, and days before, sun is cold and rain is hard.
It’s been that way for all his time.
With his patience growing thin, he asked, “where’s the calm?”
The sky devilishly replied, “this is the calm.”
Undeterred, he assured the sky, “Then I’m that much more prepared for the storm.”
